Say I do on a deserted island. YES PLEASE.
When Lauren and Jarrah, both from Australia, contacted me to let me know that they are planning their wedding in Kastellorizo, I didn't have to think twice. Kastellorizo is a little island about a few hundred meters from Turkey and about 24 hours sailing from Athens. Kastellorizo has a rich history and hasn't always been in Greek hands and nowadays it has only 400 inhabitants. It's colourful houses, blue waters and delicious food, make it a small paradise on earth. Not to mention the filmset for the famous Mediterraneo in 1991.
Next to Kastellorizo, lays St. George Island. A small remote island with a church and a tavern. This island, only reachable by small boats, is the island where the couple decided to say their 'I do's' and party all night long. With Lauren having Greek roots from Kastellorizo, we've brought in a Greek band from Rhodes who got the couple and guests on their feet all night long!
The decor and flowers are all sourced locally. We wanted to keep the wedding sustainable and organic, and we cut all flowers from the island with the help of a freelance florist and the locals. And, as how it goes on small islands, their wedding was the talk of the town!
