A celebration of Greek roots, wildflowers and endless dancing at Lazarou Beach.
Some weddings are simply made for celebrating. Despoina and Phaedon's summer wedding in Sifnos was one of them.
Both originally from Greece and now living in New York, the couple returned to their home country to celebrate their marriage surrounded by the people they love most. With around 160 guests joining them on the island, their wedding was a beautiful reunion of family, friends and Greek traditions, wrapped in the warmth of a Cycladic summer.
And warm it was. Their July wedding took place on one of those incredibly hot summer days when the sun seems determined to stay a little longer.
A Traditional Greek Orthodox Wedding at Chrysopigi Monastery
The day began with a religious wedding ceremony at the iconic Chrysopigi Monastery, one of Sifnos' most beautiful and recognisable landmarks.
Perched on a rocky peninsula overlooking the Aegean Sea, Chrysopigi offered a breathtaking setting for Despoina and Phaedon. With their loved ones gathered around them, the ceremony was a meaningful celebration of their Greek heritage and the beginning of a new chapter together.
A Colourful, Flower-Filled Reception at Lazarou Beach
Following the ceremony, celebrations continued at Lazarou Beach in Platis Gialos, where we created a lush, colourful wedding setting inspired by Despoina's love of flowers.
Her wish was simple: an abundance of colourful, natural-looking blooms reminiscent of wildflowers and summer meadows.
The result was a vibrant, romantic atmosphere, with playful floral arrangements bringing colour, texture and movement to the reception. Against the natural beauty of Sifnos and the Aegean backdrop, the setting felt effortlessly summery, welcoming and full of life.
A Greek Wedding Celebration That Lasted Until Morning
If there is one thing we love about Greek weddings, it is the energy. And Despoina and Phaedon's celebration had plenty of it.
With 160 guests, multiple DJs and a dance floor that rarely had a quiet moment, the evening quickly turned into an incredible party. There was music, laughter, drinks, endless dancing and the unmistakable joy of having everyone together in one place.
As the night continued into the early hours of the morning, one thing became clear: nobody was in a hurry for this celebration to end.
A beautiful reminder that, beyond the flowers, the setting and all the carefully considered details, the most memorable weddings are ultimately about the people, the connections and the moments shared.
